School Open House – Educational Poster Design
A bright, welcoming open house poster built to read clearly from a hallway wall or a phone screen.

OVERVIEW
An elementary school needed a poster to promote its open house to prospective families, one that felt exciting to children while remaining clearly informative for parents. The project produced a complete poster system suited to bulletin boards, hallways, and digital sharing alike.
THE CHALLENGE
The design had to appeal to both parents and children simultaneously, communicate event details at a glance, and maintain the professionalism expected of an educational institution. It also needed to function across very different display contexts, from a hallway wall to a social media post, without clutter undermining its readability.
RESEARCH & STRATEGY
Effective educational posters tend to combine a bold readable headline, clear date and time emphasis, engaging illustration, and structured highlights. The strategy applied bright primary colors for visibility, soft rounded typography for approachability, and child-friendly illustration to build emotional connection alongside a clearly organized information block.
ART DIRECTION
A blue-and-yellow primary palette carries the energy of the piece, lifted by green accents and friendly illustrated figures including students and a school bus. Rounded, welcoming typography and generous spacing keep the composition legible from a distance while still feeling warm up close.
EXECUTION
The poster system includes a primary vertical print piece, an alternate color variation, a mobile-optimized digital version, and mockups showing the design on a bulletin board and in a hallway display, giving the school flexibility across every promotional channel it needed.
OUTCOME
The finished poster gives the school a warm, organized presence that increases visibility for its open house while presenting the campus as inviting and well run.
